When Erasmus passed away, his 3 sons inherited the farm. In 1889, Alois Hugo Nellmapius bought a portion of the farm Doornkloof and renamed the central part of the farm "Irene", after his 2-year-old daughter at the time, "Irene Violet Nellmapius".
