Background and Historical Information of the Area

Moreleta Park originated its name from Moreletaspruit because of the meanders that run through the suburb. This name also stems from the Northern Sotho tribe, and it translates to 'Grewia Flava' or otherwise known as the 'brandy bush'.

However, this neighbourhood, is also rich in its history. Dating back to the 1800's, there was a dairy farm by the name of Garsfontein and this farm was run by Jacobus Cornelis Rademeyer and Cornelia Johanna Erasmus (his wife). Today, Garsfontein is known as Moreleta Kloof. The Rademeyer family owned most of this dairy farm and built a farmhouse that is now known as Rademeyers Restaurant.

Moreleta Park is seen as a south easterly suburb of Pretoria ranging from houses, townhouses, complexes, security estates, and apartments. The suburb is in proximity to Centurion, Pretoria, and Johannesburg.
